Couldn't wait for 4/20...

duck..
 duck..duck...
 goose..

Our dog crates are serving in an inverse capacity now..keeping the former occupants out.

We couldn't wait for our duck and chicken order due April 20 so we went out and adopted what were available (in webbed feet) today. Two Swedish Black/Blue ducklings and I'm guessing it's a Toulouse gosling. Daisey named the gosling Noel....after it's apparently scheduled date of consumption.
I was thinking it was going to be our security Goose to keep the dogs in line.

EARLY SPRING

A warm winter with only one significant snowfall has us primed for planting early again this year. Looking trough my posts from last spring I know Ishould keep the seedlings inside as little longer but temps in the upper 70's today had Daisey and me out cleaning up the yard and tilling the garden. Like last year, I swung by Frugal Farmers yesterday to harass them for not having manure compost yet, what do they think this is, Zone 3? Of course it will snow tomorrow.

Lets see...eggplant, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, peppers, tomatillos...
...red onions, white onions, scallions, shallots, leeks...Daisey's Lemongrass, Coneflower, Hollyhock White Yarrow Allisum,  Rosemary,  Creeping Thyme,  Gallardium...

Couldn't resist putting in a little Lettuce and Spinach seed.
Ready for mounding ...this year I am going to runthe rows front to back with the tallest plants closest to the house. No vine squash this year..not here, it made a mess and prevented me entering the garden last year.  Tomatillos, Pole beans, Tomatoes, cukes (climbing), eggplant, peppers, etc.
More Lettuce, Spinach and Swiss Chard and Turnip on the road.
Tilled up a failed vegetable location at the bottom of the lawn for Daisey to plant flowers and herbs. We are going to have to augment this area robustly!
Slightly expanded this garden a bit...robbing the lawn as is my m.o.
